Ms.Yin | Ms.Yang love brands that take you from day to night and this is a quality that Desti Saint bags, Stones that Rock jewellery and VAUGHAN shirts all share. In the previous post, we put together our evening looks now it’s the turn for some daytime styling.

Often what sets the extraordinary apart from the ordinary is the DETAILS. All three of these local brands really care about the detail of their designs. For Desti Saint this is echoed not only in the detailed choice and colour of leather but the symbolism of the adornments on her bags. In particular, the jade carvings on the clutch bags may reflect never ending love for an important person in Desti’s life or other traits such as strength and happiness of those nearest and dearest. Desti’s latest collection, named after her son: Finlay, focuses on colours and shapes that are practical and remind her of him with colour names such as Steel (because he’s strong), Buff (because he’s fit and lean) and Caramel (because he’s sweet and girls love him!) all made into handy designs such as travel wallets, cross body, shopper and shoulder bags.

For Stones that Rock it’s not only the level of detail that goes into hand selecting each pearl and stone used in their designs but also the smaller  details such as good quality jewellery findings and clasps that often become a feature of the end product. So, when you handle a piece of jewellery from the Stones that Rock collection you really can feel the quality and depth of design that has gone into making each piece from start to finish.  In the design process, versatility is always a key detail, where necklaces can be layered, and bracelets stacked or equally pieces can be worn individually. In the latest collection, the colour palette is a mix of fine neutrals of champagne, smoky grey, silver and black with some coloured pieces of green, blue and pink.  Each Stones that Rock collection is designed down to the last detail so there is always something for every style occasion: classic pearls for elegant style, sparkling crystals to take things up a notch, shell pearls for fashion fun and semi precious stones for natural, healing beauty. Whatever the occasion, Stones that Rock has you covered.

With VAUGHAN shirts, it’s not only the choice of Hangzhou silk, known for being the best in the world since the days of the Tang and Song dynasties, but how this silk is then treated once it has been carefully selected by hand.  It is custom dyed in a range of colours exclusive to VAUGHAN to suit every skin tone, and once the dyeing process is complete, the silk is then washed three times to showcase its delicate nature and prevent shrinkage. You will also see on VAUGHAN shirts a small bumble bee discretely embroidered on on the lower inside placket of each shirt. The bee represents good fortune, joy and hard work. With her heavy body and small wings the bee shouldn’t be able to fly, but with hard work and perseverance she beats her wings so rapidly that she flies, reminding us that through hard work and perseverance almost anything is possible.

As you can see, it’s all in the detail.  Small details can make big things happen.
